When shopping online it is important to feel confident using your Smart Account Debit Mastercard.
Mastercard SecureCode is the free service offered by An Post Smart Account in partnership with Mastercard to give An Post Smart Account cardholders additional security and peace of mind when shopping online.
You create a Mastercard SecureCode password that is linked to your Smart Account Debit Mastercard. Thereafter, every time you go to make a purchase online at participating websites using your Smart Account Debit Mastercard, you’ll be prompted to enter that password. By doing so, you are authorising the purchase and confirming that you are the card owner. This makes online shopping a safer place for you to use your Smart Account Debit Mastercard.
When you go to use your Debit Mastercard on a participating retailer’s website, during the checkout process you will be asked to register for the Mastercard SecureCode service. You can choose to ignore this request to register once, but on the next occasion you must register.
Alternatively, you can pre-register your card now by selecting the link below:
When you register, you will be asked for your card number and some additional pieces of information.
Every time you shop online with participating retailers, the Mastercard SecureCode section will appear on the participating retailer’s webpage and ask you for random characters from your password.
Please note: Certain retailers will not be enabled for this service. If you choose to shop with them, you will not be requested to enter your SecureCode details..
You can choose to ignore this request to register once, but on the next occasion you must register, otherwise you will not be able to purchase with any Mastercard SecureCode registered retailers in future.
It is very important to remember your password. When setting your password, avoid combinations that may be possible for someone else to guess. Never write down or record your password. Keep it secret, and do not share it with anyone. Never give your password out over the telephone or in written correspondence. If you think that someone knows your password, change it immediately.
